Registrar of newspapers and periodicals in IndiaThe Press Registrar General of India (PRGI), formerly the Registrar of Newspapers for India (RNI), is a statutory body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, for the registration of newspapers and periodicals. It was established in 1956 by amending the Press and Registration of Books Act 1867. However, in 2024, the Act was repealed and replaced by the Press & Registration of Periodicals Act, 2023. PRGI is headquartered in New Delhi.
